Gran Hiyoshi opened May 2019 near Hiyoshi station along the Tokyu Toyoko line! The Toyoko line basically connects Shibuya to Yokohama. You can get from Shibuya to Yokohama in around 30 minutes, and according to real estate surveys, areas along this line rank as the most popular places people want to live, and Hiyoshi is one of those stations. This is also the first stop on the Tokyu Meguro line, which also connects from Meguro station to Tokyo Metro Namboku line and Toei Mita line. This gives you great access toward Roppongi, Otemachi, and more. Plus, Keio University has a campus at Hiyoshi, which means it also is somewhat of a student town, with lots of cheap places to eat and drink. The station connects directly to the Hiyoshi Tokyu Avenue department store, which has all sorts of places to shop, as well as a grocery store on the 1st floor. Just a 10 minute walk from the station you can find quiet residential neighborhoods with families and single people alike. This area has garnered attention recently, with thinks like Apita Terrace Yokohama Tsunashima and Apple YTC. This time, the Oak Explorers explored Hiyoshi as best we could, in hopes you'll want to live in Hiyoshi too after reading this!

The first thing you'll see outside the ticket gate is the Tokyu department store. They have food, a Uniqlo, a Muji, a Yamada Denki electronics store, and more, so it's really convenient. If you follow the road seen in the picture and cross, you will come to the Keio University Hiyoshi campus. Students can be seen around here at all hours, so it's a lively area.

There are 5 streets that radiate out from the west exit of Hiyoshi station, and each has a different name. There's Hiyoshi Chuodori, Futsubudori, Hamagindori, Sun Road, and Mail road shopping streets, with over 100 shops and stalls between them. It's mostly food, but you can also find salons, flowers, groceries, Starbucks, Mister Donut, McDonald's, and many more.

Great example of Yokohama ramen! Hiyoshi ramen shops are in fierce competition and popular with students. The first one we found was the mega-popular Musashi, which serves bowls with rich pork bone broth and soy sauce base soup. There are a lot of ramen shops near here that also provide a bowl of rice for free. The standard toppings here are pork, spinach, and seaweed. They also have a ladies ramen in a smaller size.

More ramen today! The second place we visited was Rasuta, which was packed with people even though it's further away. It has a super-rich broth, which of course goes with seaweed and rice!

Rock climbing has become a popular activity in recent years in Japan. It's a great and fun way to work out. There are 3 Big Rock gyms in Yokohama city, and always full of people. They are open until 10:30 pm, so you can come after work. Just come in workout clothes and shoes (you can rent shoes) and have a fun time!

This is a spacious climbing gym where people from beginners to pros can come climb! There's a beginners area so you can easily try it out!

It's hard to tell from the exterior, but we recommend searching it out!

Near the house are a My Basket small supermarket, a Seims drugstore, convenience store, and post office. It's nice to be able to get food close by. If you want to take a journey, head to Apita Terrace Yokohama Tsunashima for more shopping!

Close out the day with a drink at this place! Great for dates too. They have lots of shochu, and the staff loves to explain the flavors of each! We liked the beef tongue and avocado yukke! Take more care than we did- the more you drink, the more you eat; the more you eat, the more you drink! They have 2 shops in Hiyoshi, and 3 more along other Toyoko line stations.
